Hyundai has introduced its cheapest EV, the Inster, in Japan, priced at $18,000, making it the most affordable electric car in its segment compared to BYD’s Dolphin. This is Hyundai’s fourth electric vehicle and is expected to be a hit in Japan. With up to 221 miles of range in Europe, the Inster offers battery options of 42 or 49 kWh. It competes with BYD’s Dolphin in terms of price and size, aiming to boost Hyundai’s sales in Japan, where it sold just over 600 vehicles last year. The Inster will also challenge Nissan Sakura as Japan’s top-selling electric car.
