New research from Purdue University reveals that using scented products indoor, such as flame-free candles, can generate air pollution comparable to car exhaust outside. These nanosized particles created from scented products can pose serious health risks, as they can penetrate deep into the lungs. The study, conducted in Purdue’s zEDGE lab, found that scented wax melts can produce over one million nanoparticles per cubic centimeter, affecting indoor air quality. The research also discovered that the use of scented products can lead to the formation of nanoparticles that may have detrimental impacts on respiratory health.
