Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has ordered video platform Rumble to be taken offline in Brazil due to non-compliance with court orders, including refusing to appoint a legal representative for Brazil and paying pending legal fines. Controversially, Moraes also demanded that Rumble take down the channel of conservative journalist Allan dos Santos, a supporter of former President Jair Bolsonaro who is a fugitive in Brazil for spreading disinformation. Rumble has accused Moraes of censorship, leading to a lawsuit against him. The crackdown on Rumble follows a similar suspension of Elon Musk’s X in Brazil, raising debates about judicial power and free speech.
