Rhythm 0

In 1974, Serbian artist Marina Abramović created a six-hour performance art piece called “Rhythm 0” in Naples. The audience was invited to interact with Abramović using 72 objects placed on a table, ranging from harmless items like roses and honey to more dangerous objects like guns and scalpels. The purpose of the piece was to see how far the public would go. Visitors started off gently, but as time went on, the interactions became more brutal, with Abramović subject to sexual assault and violence. After six hours, she stood up and the audience fled, unable to face her as a person. “Rhythm 0” is considered one of the greatest works of performance art ever done.
