PoW gets his life back after 55 years (2000)

The mystery of the identity of a World War II soldier who returned to Hungary after 55 years in Russian captivity has been solved. The man, Andras Toma, was reunited with his brother and sister in the village of Sulyanbokor. While DNA tests will confirm their relationship, it is believed that there is little doubt among doctors and military officers who have been caring for him. Toma recognized places he hadn’t seen in over 50 years and seemed to remember names and other details from his past. The revelation of his identity has disappointed the 82 families who previously claimed him as their missing relative.
