Why HTTP/3 is eating the world

HTTP/3, the new version of the HyperText Transfer Protocol, has gained rapid adoption on the public web since its standardization by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). With support ranging from 19% to over 50% of web servers and networks worldwide, it is safe to say that HTTP/3 is already widely used. This protocol, also known as QUIC, solves several issues with the previous TCP protocol, including encryption, performance, and security. By heavily integrating with the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol and encrypting metadata, QUIC provides enhanced security and privacy. It also offers efficiency improvements and addresses common connectivity problems. HTTP/3 is expected to be more performant when loading web pages and streaming videos, which has contributed to its rapid adoption.
