Previously, individuals had to file separate requests with each company. The Delete Act requires data brokers to register with the California privacy protection agency and establishes a single-page request system for Californians to have their data deleted. Non-compliant brokers will face fines or penalties. Advertising companies have voiced concerns about the law, while privacy advocates hail it as a step towards regaining control of personal information.
