In the year 1518, Mexico-Tenochtitlan, now known as Mexico City, was a thriving metropolis and the capital of a vast empire. It boasted a population of over 5 million people, including farmers, artisans, merchants, soldiers, priests, and aristocrats. This impressive city, built by hand on the lake bed of Lake Texcoco, was one of the largest in the world at the time. While little remains of the ancient Aztec or Mexica capital Tenochtitlan, I have meticulously researched historical and archaeological sources to restore its splendor and capture the essence of this iconic city.
