Gmail, Yahoo announce new 2024 authentication requirements for bulk senders

Gmail is introducing new requirements for bulk senders to enhance email security. Currently, Gmail’s AI-powered defenses prevent more than 99.9% of spam, phishing, and malware from reaching inboxes. However, as threats become more complex, additional measures are necessary. One key focus is email validation, as many bulk senders do not properly secure their systems, making it easier for attackers to hide. Gmail now requires emails sent to a Gmail address to have some form of authentication, reducing unauthenticated messages by 75%. By February 2024, Gmail will require bulk senders to authenticate their emails, enable easy unsubscription, and ensure they stay under a spam rate threshold. These changes are aimed at improving email security, user experience, and reducing spam. Collaboration and vigilance from the entire email community are essential in achieving these goals.
