YouTube’s crackdown on ad blockers has resulted in record numbers of users uninstalling the software. However, even more users are turning to better ad blockers that won’t trigger YouTube’s warning. Some are even switching to a different browser altogether. Although YouTube’s efforts have seen success in terms of uninstallations, an even larger number of users are installing alternative ad blockers. Ghostery and AdGuard have both experienced a significant increase in installations and uninstalls. Interestingly, the paid version of AdGuard appears to be immune to YouTube’s ban. This crackdown has users scrambling for better alternatives, such as Newpipe, and may result in more complex blocking tactics and unintentional security holes.
