Swedish payment giant Klarna has averted a strike by agreeing to sign a collective bargaining agreement with its unions. Talks had broken down last month, with three unions pledging to carry out sympathy strikes if an agreement was not reached. However, with the help of a mediator, an agreement was reached on Friday. Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski said he was pleased with the deal, which combines the company’s agility with the clarity of the Swedish model. Collective bargaining agreements are common in Sweden, but less so in newer industries such as tech and startups.
