SpaceX has announced that its second integrated flight test (IFT-2) of the Starship rocket could launch as soon as mid-November, pending regulatory approval. The primary regulatory hurdle facing the launch is the conclusion of an environmental review by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has already completed the safety review. SpaceX will introduce several upgrades to the rocket and launch infrastructure for the second test, including a hot-stage separation system and an electronic Thrust Vector Control system. NASA is closely monitoring the progress of Starship, as it is expected to be a part of the Human Landing System Program for the Artemis Moon mission in 2024.
