A Lot of Damage in Grindavík

After the recent earthquakes in Grindavík, significant damage can be seen in the town. The formation of a deformation moving towards the magma intrusion underneath the ground has caused a depression estimated to be over 1.2 meters. A fissure runs through a large part of the town, even passing through the road to the sports center. The power of the earthquakes is evident in the substantial faulting observed at the sports center, with the pavement appearing severed from the building. Furthermore, a large fissure can be seen through the road, with hot air steaming out and evidence of soft and yielding grass. Residents are now allowed to enter the town briefly to retrieve necessities and valuables. Although damages are visible on many houses, no building seems to be completely ruined.
