Canonical Launches MicroCloud to Deploy Your Own “Fully Functional Cloud”

Canonical has unveiled its latest software offering, MicroCloud, which aims to simplify the deployment of private clouds on Ubuntu Linux. This software leverages open-source solutions such as LXD, Ceph, and OVN to create a fully functional cloud in minutes. Users can easily install MicroCloud and its components through a simple Snap command. Canonical emphasizes the scalability and reliability of MicroCloud, and is promoting it alongside their Ubuntu Pro and commercial support subscriptions. MicroCloud requires a minimum of three machines and can currently scale up to 50 machines. Overall, Canonical’s MicroCloud is positioned as a low-touch and efficient private cloud solution.
