In 2021, while performing routine maintenance, Tektronix personnel made an intriguing discovery in the crawl space below building 13. They stumbled upon a storage area filled with CRT funnel molds, which seemed to have been used for ceramics and subsequently forgotten. The molds consist of an inner mold made of aluminum and an outer mold made of polyurethane. Fascinated by this find, they documented their exploration with photos and later a video in 2023. The underground location has been playfully referred to as the “catacombs” due to its resemblance to a burial place. These molds, housing the skeletons of ceramic CRTs, have been resting beneath Building 13, which now houses the vintageTEK Museum, since the ceasing of CRT production in 1996.
