In 1979, Scott Adams was incredibly productive, releasing six new games including Mission Impossible, Voodoo Castle, The Count, Strange Odyssey, Mystery Fun House, and Pyramid of Doom. Although his then-wife, Alexis, was credited with creating Voodoo Castle, it is unclear how much of a role she actually played. Alvin Files also made a significant contribution to Pyramid of Doom by reverse-engineering Adams’s adventure-game engine. Two-thirds of Adams’s canonical adventures were created before Adventure International, his company, was even founded. Adams made technical improvements to his games, such as implementing assembly language and a new display system. The content of the games themselves included elements of time management and storytelling.
