Debian and Ubuntu’s PostgreSQL repository, apt.postgresql.org, has expanded its supported architectures to include IBM’s z-series architecture, known as “s390x” in Debian terms. This is a welcome addition to the existing architectures, which include amd64, ppc64el, arm64, and i386 (only for the oldest release). The process of setting up the s390x architecture has been ongoing since earlier this year, with some initial stability issues that have been resolved with the help of the PostgreSQL hackers community. CYBERTEC PostgreSQL has played a role in supporting this expansion and is available for customer support.
