Frore Systems has introduced AirJet, a super thin cooling system that can boost the performance of a MacBook Air under heavy load. Most Macs use fans to maintain an optimal operating temperature, but the MacBook Air lacks a fan for the System on a Chip (SoC), causing its performance to throttle down during processor-intensive work. AirJet, referred to as a “solid-state active cooling chip,” measures 27.5 by 41.5 by 2.8 mm, making it significantly smaller and thinner than a typical computer fan. By keeping the MacBook Air’s temperature in check, AirJet allows for better performance, as shown in a demonstration using the Cinebench R23 benchmark. While AirJet is not currently available for consumer purchase, Frore’s MacBook Air demo proves its potential benefits in Apple products. Its slim design could free up space in MacBook Pro models or help shrink the Mac Studio. Roman Loyola, Senior Editor at Macworld, provides more details on AirJet’s functionality and capabilities.
