Professor in Jordan sues sleuth who exposed citation anomalies

A Swiss PhD student who exposed potentially fraudulent conferences is being sued by one of the conference chairs, a computer science professor from Jordan University of Science and Technology. The professor, Shadi Aljawarneh, gained a high number of citations from the conference proceedings, raising questions about the legitimacy of his work. The conferences were organized by the International Association of Researchers under the auspices of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The student, Solal Pirelli, decided to blog about his findings after receiving no response from the ACM. Pirelli has since been threatened with legal action and faced defamation charges. The charges were dismissed, but the lawsuit is still ongoing.
