Beeper has announced that it will no longer focus on bringing iMessage to Android and will instead concentrate on building the best chat app. The company states that its credibility suffers each time there are connectivity issues with its workaround solution, and competing with Apple is unsustainable. However, Beeper’s latest fix requires users to own or rent a jailbroken iPhone, making the process even more complex. The company is open-sourcing its iMessage bridge to address concerns about security and believes that Apple should have no reason to block its latest update. The Verge has yet to receive a response from Apple.
