arXiv is committed to providing equitable access to scientific research, and to further this goal, they have made research papers more accessible for users with disabilities. Starting from December 18th, arXiv now generates an HTML version of all TeX/LaTeX papers submitted after December 1st, 2023. This additional format is aimed at assisting researchers with reading disabilities such as blindness, low vision, and dyslexia, as HTML formatted papers are more compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies. While the HTML conversion is still experimental and not yet perfect, arXiv wanted to offer this accessibility feature as quickly as possible. They encourage authors to review their HTML version and provide feedback to improve the conversion process. This initiative is a significant step towards making scientific research accessible to all individuals.
