SpaceX successfully launched a rocket carrying the first set of Starlink satellites that can provide network access to smartphone users in areas with poor cellular coverage. T-Mobile, one of the wireless carriers that struck a deal with SpaceX, confirmed that the satellites were in low-Earth orbit. Although satellite service will not be immediately available, T-Mobile plans to begin field testing soon. SpaceX aims to expand the project rapidly. Other wireless providers like KDDI, Optus, One NZ, and Rogers are collaborating with SpaceX to launch similar technology. This development is expected to eliminate dead zones and ensure connectivity in remote locations.
