The topic of this paper was also unique, focusing on how people communicate online during natural disasters, so it captured attention in the research community. Overall, this paper was a successful collaboration between myself and my students, showcasing the potential of class projects turning into impactful research.

The next paper in my faculty career came from a collaboration with a former intern, Alex, who reached out to me about a project he had been working on related to online gaming communities. We combined his work with some additional analysis and writing, and the resulting paper was accepted at a top-tier conference. This paper received positive reviews and feedback, highlighting the importance of understanding the dynamics and social interactions within online gaming communities. It also emphasized the value of collaborations and the contributions of my students in my research.

Moving forward in my career, I started to focus on the mentorship and development of my own research group. One of my students, Sarah, came to me with an interest in studying the impact of social media on mental health. We embarked on a collaborative journey, conducting surveys and analyzing the data together. This paper ended up being one of our most impactful publications, shedding light on the complex relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes.
