Residents of Grindavík, Iceland, are unsure if they will be able to return to their homes after volcanic lava destroyed houses and damaged essential services. The Fagradalsfjall volcano erupted for the second time in a month after a series of mini-earthquakes. David Ingi Bustion, an architect whose family has lived in Grindavík for generations, expressed uncertainty about the future habitability of the town. The eruption has caused disruption and uncertainty for the residents, many of whom had returned after a previous evacuation. The eruptions have rendered some properties worthless and have resulted in displaced families. The Icelandic government is meeting to discuss support for the affected residents.
