In response to European regulations, Meta (formerly Facebook) will be implementing changes to give users in the EU, EEA, and Switzerland more control over their data on Facebook and Instagram. These changes, which will be rolled out in the coming weeks, will comply with the Digital Markets Act. Users will have the option to choose whether they want their information shared between Facebook and Instagram. Those who have connected their accounts can decide to continue sharing data or separate their accounts. Additionally, Messenger will have a standalone option allowing users to use it independently of Facebook. Gamers can also choose between a Facebook-linked gaming experience or a Facebook-free one. European users also have the option to pay for a subscription to access Facebook and Instagram ad-free and ensure their information is not used for targeted advertising.
