Terraform Industries is working to develop a carbon-neutral supply chain for cheap, unlimited hydrocarbons using only sunlight and air. Synthetic fuels and electrification may be the key to solving the climate change conundrum, allowing humanity to move beyond fossil fuels as early as 2040. Geoengineering solutions such as the accelerated weathering of mafic rocks to absorb CO2 and solar radiation management (SRM) in the form of stratospheric SO2 injection may help mitigate excess legacy CO2 in the atmosphere. The cost of launching large stratospheric balloons filled with SO2 to alleviate warming effects is estimated to be as low as 35 cents per kilogram.
