In a settlement with the FDA and the Justice Department, Philips has agreed to pay approximately $400 million and cease the sale of the machines in the U.S. until specific conditions are met. Users of the recalled devices can now file claims for financial losses related to their purchase or rental of the machines. The settlement does not include claims for personal injuries.
