German Bundestag Passes Cannabis Legalization

The Bundestag has approved the German government’s draft law on the controlled use of cannabis. The law allows adults to possess up to 50 grams of cannabis for personal use at home and up to 25 grams in public. The law also permits private cultivation of three cannabis plants for personal use and the controlled distribution through cultivation associations. The government argues that this law promotes responsible cannabis use, health protection, prevention, and reducing the black market. However, the Bundesrat has expressed concerns about implementation challenges, raising questions about regulation effectiveness and potential dangers, especially for young people.
