Sul Ross Desk

Three students looking for a quiet study spot in 1979, decided to cart a desk up to Hancock Hill, offering stunning views of west Texas. An epistolary tradition began when one student left a note in a notebook and returned to find a reply. Today, visitors can write in the notebook to reflect on leaving a mark in such a unique place. Completed notebooks are preserved at the Archives of the Big Bend. Entries range from declarations of love to deep personal reflections. The sentiment remains the same as the original desk has been replaced over the years—Hancock Hill is always a place to collect your thoughts.
