Visitors at Salone del Mobile 2024 are in for a treat with a new cinematic experience thanks to acclaimed director David Lynch. Lynch, known for cult classics like Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, has ventured into designing furniture with his exhibition ‘Interiors by David Lynch. A Thinking Room.’ Antonio Monda, the curator, explains that Lynch’s interest in furniture design stemmed from a casual carpentry hobby. The exhibition features two ‘Thinking Rooms’ with an armchair surrounded by blue velvet curtains, paying homage to Lynch’s film Blue Velvet. Despite his success in film, Lynch keeps his design work separate, offering visitors a moment of respite and reflection in the midst of the bustling fair.
