Cold brew coffee in 3 minutes using acoustic cavitation

UNSW Sydney engineers have developed a new technique using sound waves to create cold brew coffee in under three minutes, a process that typically takes 12 to 24 hours. The ultrasonic reactor accelerates the extraction process of oils, flavors, and aroma of the coffee grounds by generating acoustic cavitation. This breakthrough technology doubles the extraction yield and caffeine concentration compared to traditional methods. Collaborating with researchers from the University of Queensland, sensory analysis showed that the sonicated three-minute sample provided a similar taste profile to a 24-hour cold brew. This innovative method has the potential to revolutionize the coffee industry.
