Today we introduce LPCAMM2, a groundbreaking memory standard for laptops that is modular, repairable, and upgradeable. This technology allows users to purchase a laptop and install more RAM as needed, avoiding overpaying or under-specifying based on future memory needs. LPCAMM2 combines the efficiency and speed of LPDDR chips with a compact board that screws in close to a laptop’s CPU, providing dual-channel performance in a smaller footprint. Lenovo’s ThinkPad P1 (Gen 7) is the first laptop with LPCAMM2 technology. This development signifies a shift towards more sustainable, repairable technology in the industry, with multiple tech companies supporting the new standard.
