Google Pay, previously known as GPay, is no longer available in the US as of June 4. The redesigned Google Pay aimed to simplify money management with plans for a mobile-first bank account that never materialized. Google now focuses on Google Wallet, offering the ability to view and transfer your balance to a bank account. The app centered around relationships with people and businesses, utilizing message-like conversations for purchase history. Co-branded Plex Accounts with savings and customizable goals were planned, but the project was canceled in 2021, despite a waitlist of 400,000 people. Google shifted to providing digital enablement for financial service providers.
