Twonkie is a user-friendly version of Google’s Twinkie, created for hobbyists to build in small quantities. It features a four-layer PCB and leaded parts to simplify assembly. A v2.0 version is equipped to handle higher bus voltages with a new chip. Building your own Twonkie involves ordering parts and following provided instructions. Replacements for unavailable parts are suggested but untested. Beginners should order extra parts and be prepared for a challenging soldering experience. The project is not beginner-friendly, but the KiCad schematic file provides necessary information. Other similar projects are also available. Twonkie’s hardware design is under CC BY 4.0, while the firmware is licensed under the 3-clause BSD license.
