Twitter kills its San Francisco headquarters, will relocate to South Bay

After thirteen years, X is closing its San Francisco headquarters. CEO Linda Yaccarino announced in an email that employees will be relocated to the South Bay. Engineering workers will share an office in Palo Alto with another company owned by Elon Musk, while the remaining employees will move to Santana Row in San Jose. The move comes after Musk acquired X and ordered employees back to the office full-time. X is on the hook for a significant amount of office space in Mid-Market, with deals expiring in 2026 and 2028. The closure marks the end of an era for the area, once booming with tech companies attracted by tax breaks.
