Our Founder – Momofuku Ando

In the 1930s, Momofuku Ando, the founder of NISSIN FOODS, displayed an entrepreneurial spirit that led him to create a revolutionary product – instant noodles. After witnessing the food shortage in post-WWII Japan, Ando was inspired to develop Chicken Ramen, the world’s first instant noodles, in 1958. Despite initial skepticism, Chicken Ramen quickly gained popularity, leading to the creation of Cup Noodles in 1971. Ando’s innovative approach to product development, including creating a container fit for eating with a fork, helped establish instant noodles as a global food. His dedication to creating new foods continued with the development of Space Ram, instant noodles for consumption in space. Ando’s legacy lives on through the NISSIN FOODS Group, carrying forward his spirit of creativity and perseverance.
