Vanilla OS has rolled out a new “Orchid” release, moving from Ubuntu to Debian unstable. It’s now easier to install software from other distros’ repositories, and even run Android apps. With a focus on minimizing system updates, Vanilla OS uses containerization and sandboxing to maintain a small, immutable core OS. Users can also create subsystems based on different Linux distros through Apx. Although complex, Vanilla OS is a solid choice for advanced users needing a diverse range of applications.
