Six out of nine crucial life-support systems have crossed their “planetary boundary,” with ocean acidification close to breaching its limit. This acidification, caused by increased carbon dioxide absorption by the oceans, can harm coral and marine life. Scientists are concerned about certain regions like the Arctic and Southern oceans, crucial for marine productivity and fisheries. Despite the alarming state of the planet, a holistic approach considering all boundaries together may be the key to restoring Earth to a safe state.
