Floss/fund: $1M per year for free and open source projects

Kailash Nadh, CTO at Zerodha, is thrilled to announce the launch of a $1 million fund to support Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FOSS) globally. The fund is a way to give back to the FOSS community that has been vital in Zerodha’s success. The lack of financial sustainability for FOSS projects has been a growing concern, especially with the rise of cloud companies profiting from FOSS projects. Despite the challenges, Zerodha is stepping up to support FOSS projects through structured funding. The fund will have a dedicated team, offer grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, and source applications globally. The goal is to ensure the continued success and growth of the FOSS ecosystem.
