12,000-year-old realistic human statue was unearthed

A recent discovery at Göbeklitepe, the world’s oldest megalithic site, has revealed a painted wild boar statue. This find has further emphasized the significance of this archaeological site and its impact on our understanding of the cradle of civilization. The statue, which is around 12,000 years old, is the first painted sculpture from its time period to be discovered. Additionally, excavations at Karahantepe, the sister site of Göbeklitepe, have unearthed a lifelike human statue that bears resemblance to a relief found in previous excavations. These discoveries shed new light on prehistoric art and the existence of different phases within the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period in the region.
