1400 year old gold foil figures found in Norwegian pagan temple

In Norway, archaeologists have discovered five gold foil figures from the Merovingian period at an excavation site near Lillehammer. The figures, which are believed to have been used as offerings or religious acts to protect a temple, are unusually intact and were found in their original placement. The temple, believed to have stood from the 6th to 11th century, was likely a small pagan temple dedicated to rituals rather than feasts. Gold foil figures are rare in Norway, with only 35 previously discovered at another temple site. This recent discovery suggests that there may be more gold foil figures waiting to be found in the country.
