Tektronix entered the low-cost color terminal market with the 4105, a 480×360 resolution 13″ color graphics terminal developed in just 18 months. The project also produced the 4107 and 4109 models, all introduced on schedule in April 1983 at the Hannover Faire. A major setback occurred when the heat chamber failed and melted the prototype. The project exceeded all objectives and pioneered just-in-time manufacturing. Following this success, the higher resolution 4111 and the 4200 series were introduced, featuring cost reduction through electronic and package integration. The 4211 Netstation marked a move towards networking and thin client models.
