Wisdom, the oldest known wild bird, has returned to the Midway Atoll in the Pacific. Ornithologists from the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) eagerly await her return every year. Wisdom, also known as Z333, is a female albatross of the species Phoebastria immutabilis. She was first tagged in 1956 when she was just laying eggs, making her over 70 years old now. Despite her age, Wisdom is still active and has been spotted in mating dances. Her exceptional longevity suggests that she may hold the record for the most distance traveled, estimating that she has seen 4.8 million kilometers of ocean beneath her wings. She also has over 30 direct descendants, making her a proud grandmother.
