The next generation of Wi-Fi, also known as Wi-Fi 8, is set to bring improved performance and reliable service. The proposed “It’s Your Turn” (IYT) channel contention mechanism aims to enhance reliability by providing ordered device transmissions. This mechanism controls channel access delay and proves to be versatile in various network scenarios. The current distributed channel access method based on Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) in IEEE 802.11 is a source of unreliability, making novel contention schemes crucial for the future of Wi-Fi. The IYT mechanism shows promise in ensuring reliable performance in different network setups.
