A Visit to the Museo Nacional de Antropología, Mexico City (2023)

Last month, the author had the honor of speaking at the XXII Coloquio Internacional de Antropología Física Juan Comas in Mexico. They were impressed by the great work being done in biological anthropology across the country and thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Museo Nacional de Antropología. The museum has twelve galleries dedicated to the archaeology of various regions of Mexico, featuring well-known groups like the Aztecs, Maya, and Teotihuacanos, as well as lesser-known groups. The museum is also known for its impressive reconstructions of monuments and its incorporation of large-scale sculptures. The author was particularly fascinated by the diverse human representations and the deeper ancestry exhibit.
