A new AI system, AlphaProteo, has been developed by Protein Design and Wet Lab teams that can design novel proteins to bind to target molecules, aiding in drug design, disease understanding, and more. AlphaProteo outperforms existing methods by generating high-strength protein binders with better success rates and affinities. Notably, AlphaProteo successfully designed a protein binder for VEGF-A associated with cancer, a feat never achieved before. Although AlphaProteo couldn’t design binders against TNFɑ, the system shows promise in revolutionizing protein design for various applications. Collaboration with external experts ensures the responsible development of this groundbreaking technology.
