The FUE5 project is an exciting endeavor that brings Factorio into the realm of 3D. Created by 3D artist Hurricane and Factorio modder Nuke, this project visually replicates Factorio’s 2D world in a 3D environment. While it doesn’t offer gameplay, you can explore and fly around your base in 3D. To achieve this, the team modeled and animated Factorio assets from scratch and imported them into Unreal Engine 5. They also replicated key systems like belts, trains, and the logistic system. The project faced optimization challenges but ultimately received approval from Factorio developer Wube Software. The open-source project on GitHub aims to give the Factorio community new creative possibilities.
