AMD outsells Intel in the datacenter space

Intel has long dominated the datacenter CPU market, but AMD’s EPYC processors are now being used in the most expensive machines, outselling Intel in the datacenter segment. Intel has had to offer significant discounts on its server chips due to AMD’s competitive advantage, leading to a decrease in revenue and profit margins. The 128-core Xeon 6980P ‘Granite Rapids’ processor is Intel’s priciest standard CPU at $17,800, while AMD’s 96-core EPYC 6979P is priced lower at $11,805. Nvidia, on the other hand, earns more from datacenter GPUs and networking chips than Intel and AMD combined, totaling nearly $42 billion in AI and HPC GPU sales in the first half of the year.
