AMD’s Turin: 5th Gen EPYC Launched

This article is all about the hands-on experience with the AMD EPYC 9575F Turin processor, focusing on the memory subsystem changes. The 9575F boasts high memory read bandwidth of 52 GB/s, write bandwidth of 48 GB/s, and add bandwidth of 95 GB/s. One unique feature is the GMI3-W with 2 GMI links to the IO die, providing significantly higher bandwidth to a CCD compared to desktop Zen 5 parts. Turin supports DDR5 memory speeds up to 6400MT/s, with the 9575F achieving almost 99% of its theoretical memory bandwidth. Turin’s generation is seen as more of an evolution than a revolution, offering high core count SKUs for hyperscalers and very high-frequency SKUs for the traditional enterprise market.
