Yasmeen Lari, a former architect who now focuses on humanitarian work, has found success in building bamboo homes in Pakistan. After witnessing the devastation caused by monsoon rains and flooding in the country, Lari started using bamboo as a building material and found that the structures were able to withstand the disasters. She has since built over 85,000 bamboo structures for displaced Pakistanis, and plans to build one million more. Bamboo is a fast-growing, carbon-absorbing material that has proven to be durable and sustainable. Lari’s project aims to provide long-lasting and affordable housing options for those affected by climate change.
